As with many Clubs and Organisations, it is necessary to have rules and regulations. Kype Fishery is no different in that respect. Our rules are in place for the smooth running of the Fishery and the benefit of the Members. Additional rules exist to meet the requirements of Scottish Water and the surrounding land owners.
- The angling season is from 15th March until 31st October inclusive
- Fishing is only permitted between Dawn and Dusk throughout the season
- There is a 20 m.p.h. speed limit on the access road due to livestock and farm vehicles. Please drive slowly and carefully
- No angling is permitted before the orange safety buoy due to overhead cables
- No angling is permitted from the tree line in front of Kype Lodge to ensure the privacy for the owners
- Stepping over the dam wall is not permitted
- Long landing nets must be used when fishing from the dam wall
- Wading is not permitted when bank fishing
- Life Jackets must be worn when fishing from the boats at all times
- No swimming
- Only fly fishing with rod and line to be permitted. No propeller, fly spoons or flicker spoons are allowed. Baited flies are strictly forbidden
- Up to three flies may be used. A minimum leader strength of 6 lbs. is recommended
- Catch and release is ONLY allowed by full members of Kype Fishery and is forbidden from the dam wall
- 2 fish per week can be taken but preferably catch and release
- Barbless hooks or debarbed hooks to be used at all times
- Catch and release tool must be used.
- Nets must be used when taking fish out of the water
- It is essential under the terms of our lease that no rubbish, cigarette ends, fishing line, etc. be discarded on the banks of the Reservoir. Anyone found in breach of this rule could be barred from the Club
- No smoking in the Fishery Hut
- The Fishery Hut must be left clean and tidy at all times.
- The lighting of fires is strictly forbidden
- No smoking in the car park area
- Please close all gates behind you
- Dogs must be kept on leads at all times
- All members, when asked, must produce their membership card
- Day Tickets cost £20. There is a 2 kill fish limit and then catch and release (visitors can choose to catch and release only)
- All visitors on a Day Ticket must be accompanied by a member of the club
- Any member taking a paying guest to fish, must pay online before fishing and leave a message on the Club WhatsApp page with the name of the angler and date when fishing
